Friday May 7 1999 Start Location: Indianapolis, Indiana End Location: Kansas City, Missouri Total Distance: 795 kms. This was a driving day. All the convection was going to happen around Georgia and Florida which was well out of my driving area. I fired up the computer in the hotel room and reviewed the new model outputs. My target area was still looking good for Sunday. I decide that Wichita Kansas was still a viable option to start my full chase vacation. I left Indianapolis at 8 am. Temperatures were around 60F for most of the day. I ran into some showers that were heavy at times around Carbondale but these had no chance of being severe. My original plan was to head to St. Louis but I arrived there at 11:30 am so I continued to Kansas City. I arrived at 4:30 and got a hotel room. This is my place for the night. Plan to rest and get up late tomorrow and look at the models that are indicating some good severe activity in the plains on Sunday afternoon. I went out for dinner to watch the Leafs game and met some nice people from Kansas City which I spent the evening chatting with. At 11 pm., I returned to the hotel room and time for bed.
