little background on me may be a good idea here. I am 28 with a 1997 Chase Season:I did head down to Tornado Alley again this year (May 12-20) and had good success with the equipment I had at the time (scanner and a desktop computer). I found this to be a challenge as forecasts were done at the hotel and after that, all I relied on was my scanner and eyes. Saw some beautiful supercell formations in Kansas, Oklahoma + Texas. I just missed the tornado that hit outside Chicago by 30 miles but that's life. I had a few chases in Ontario before I got smart and started taking a tape recorder with me. A lot of the chases I went on this year were not planned and my camera was at home but John Mckay's Southern Ontario Storm Chaser Page has a lot of pictures of the storms I chased. 1998 Chase Logs and Info:The 1998 chase season has concluded. Check the 98 chase logs for highlights of this years storms and chase highlights. This year in Ontario I had great success having chased many severe thunderstorms and recorded 1 tornado on video and 2 funnel clouds from the same storm. I also surveyed a few tornado sites and posted them in the photos page. I did chase in the U.S. this year and caught 1 tornado in Nebraska but the footage was very poor. |
