Information Automatically Logged

We use your IP address as a record of entry to areas of the site (guestbook) that allow users to post information. Due to the fact that information can be posted on this site for the general public to view without editing, improper statements (vulgarity, tasteless language, etc ) may be posted without our consent (which I would never give). IP addresses are recorded and misuse of discussions board and other areas are recorded and this misuse is forwarded to the host ISP for action to be taken. 

Cookies & Sessions

The Ontario Weather Page uses cookies to make sure you don't see the same ad repeatedly. We also use sessions that allow you to keep active your login and password for the entire time you are on the site (so you don't have to re-enter them). 

Advertisers

We do use an outside ad company to display ads on our site. These ads are kept on their site and information that is gathered with the cookies is used by them without our control.

Registration Forms

Our site's registration form for the forum and guestbook requires users to give us contact information like their name, email, and city.

Contact information from the registration forms is used for login to these areas and to prevent misuse of these pages. This is due to the fact that this information can be seen by others without editing/screening by me.

Demographic data is also collected at our site in the form of the city to keep track of where users are from and to continue to find new links and sources of weather information in those regions.

This site contains many links to other sites. The Ontario Weather Page is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such Web sites. I try to ensure that the links are active and provide what they are meant to.

Public Forums

This site makes message boards available to its users. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information. The reporting database does not allow for any private information to be viewed.

Security

This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. I have taken as much preventative measures to prevent any security measures from occurring.

Children's Guidelines

This site DOES NOT MEET the Online Privacy Protection Act guidelines The following criteria are violated:

1. This site allows children to post or distribute any personally identifiable information without first obtaining verifiable parental consent. At this time, there is no known preventative measure available to monitor this. 
2. This site does not encourage children to get their parent's permission before sharing personal information online. If children e-mail me about a question, I answer it and the e-mail is then deleted from my systems. No further correspondence is taken after the question has been answer and I will not continue correspondence without the initial e-mail quoted in the reply if the question takes more than the initial e-mail to answer.
3. This site does not allow the parent to obtain the information collected from the child and provide a way for the parent to prevent the future use of that information. If you have a problem with the information provided by your child, e-mail me directly and I will delete an information posted ASAP.
