Current Weather Warnings Issued In Ontario For:

ALERTS FOR: WINDSOR - ESSEX - CHATHAM-KENT

WARNINGS

11:40 PM EDT SATURDAY 23 JULY 2016
HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FOR:

  • CHATHAM-KENT - RONDEAU PARK
  • WINDSOR - LEAMINGTON - ESSEX COUNTY

HUMIDEX VALUES REACHING NEAR 40 ARE EXPECTED.

THE MID SUMMER HEAT EPISODE WILL CONTINUE ON SUNDAY AND EARLY NEXT WEEK. DAYTIME TEMPERATURES WILL REACH THE LOW THIRTIES. OVERNIGHT LOWS WILL REMAIN IN THE LOW TWENTIES, PROVIDING LITTLE RELIEF FROM THE HEAT.

AFTERNOON HUMIDEX VALUES WILL PEAK IN THE LOW FORTIES THIS WEEKEND.

LATEST INDICATIONS SUGGEST A WEAK COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH LATE MONDAY OR TUESDAY. IN ITS WAKE, THE WEATHER WILL CONTINUE TO BE VERY WARM, ALBEIT SOMEWHAT LESS HUMID, WITH TEMPERATURES AND HUMIDEX VALUES SETTLING DOWN TO JUST BELOW THE HEAT WARNING THRESHOLD.

HEAT ILLNESSES ARE PREVENTABLE.

WATCH FOR SYMPTOMS OF HEAT ILLNESS, WHICH INCLUDE
- DIZZINESS OR FAINTING, NAUSEA OR VOMITING
- HEADACHE
- RAPID BREATHING AND HEARTBEAT
- EXTREME THIRST AND
- DECREASED URINATION WITH UNUSUALLY DARK YELLOW URINE.
IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS DURING A HEAT EVENT, IMMEDIATELY MOVE TO A COOL PLACE AND DRINK LIQUIDS. WATER IS BEST.

FREQUENTLY VISIT NEIGHBOURS, FRIENDS AND OLDER FAMILY MEMBERS, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ARE CHRONICALLY ILL, TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE COOL AND HYDRATED.

HEAT WARNINGS ARE ISSUED WHEN VERY HIGH TEMPERATURE OR HUMIDITY CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO POSE AN ELEVATED RISK OF HEAT ILLNESSES, SUCH AS HEAT STROKE OR HEAT EXHAUSTION.
