HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FOR:

  • CHATHAM-KENT - RONDEAU PARK
  • WINDSOR - LEAMINGTON - ESSEX COUNTY

HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE TODAY AND INTO EARLY THIS WEEK.

MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES WILL ALLOW DAYTIME TEMPERATURES TO REACH THE LOW THIRTIES, WITH HUMIDEX VALUES APPROACHING FORTY. THESE UNSEASONABLY WARM TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDEX VALUES WILL PERSIST INTO EARLY THIS WEEK.

A COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS SOUTHERN ONTARIO THROUGH THE DAY WEDNESDAY BRINGING COOLER TEMPERATURES FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK.

EXTREME HEAT AFFECTS EVERYONE.

HOT AND HUMID WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE CREATING ELEVATED POLLUTION LEVELS.

POSSIBLE HIGH LEVELS OF AIR POLLUTION ARE EXPECTED TODAY.
A SPECIAL AIR QUALITY STATEMENT IS IN PLACE DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF DETERIORATING AIR QUALITY. HOT AND SUNNY CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO CAUSE INCREASING GROUND-LEVEL OZONE CONCENTRATIONS THIS AFTERNOON IN THE ABOVE REGIONS. MODERATE RISK AQHI VALUES ARE EXPECTED THROUGHOUT THE DAY WITH THE POTENTIAL OF SHORT-TERM HIGH RISK AQHI VALUES IN THE AFTERNOON.

INDIVIDUALS MAY EXPERIENCE SYMPTOMS SUCH AS INCREASED COUGHING, THROAT IRRITATION, HEADACHES OR SHORTNESS OF BREATH. CHILDREN, SENIORS, AND THOSE WITH CARDIOVASCULAR OR LUNG DISEASE, SUCH AS ASTHMA, ARE ESPECIALLY AT RISK.
